Getting the details right
A good replacement needs the right material, fits and tolerances. Where the original drawing is not available, the part is measured and the key details are agreed with the plant engineer before machining. For parts under the machine builder's warranty, check the warranty terms first.
Building a local spares list
Identify the parts that fail most often and take the longest to import. Preparing drawings and approved suppliers for these parts in advance turns an emergency into a routine order.
